When I was 35 life threw me a curve ball and I had a stroke. In the blink of an eye my life was turned upside down. Coming out the other side of having a stroke was the hardest thing I have had to do in my life. I was fortunate enough to regain the movement to the left side of my body however the stroke took it's toll on me psychologically. It's a lot to get your head around at 35! But having a stroke actually allowed me to bring more softness in to my life, to be more gentle with myself. I've spent the last 4 years on a journey of healing, or rebuilding and ultimately reimagining my life. When I first had my stroke I had to work on connecting back to my body, going through the trauma of a stroke meant that I'd disconnected from my body so I worked with the tools and practices of Yoga to bring that connection back. I've learned more about my nervous system so that I can acknowledge and accept those difficult emotions rather than being overwhelmed by them. I've got to know my inner world more, I've come to understand that the different parts of me are just trying to protect a younger more vulnerable version of myself and lastly I've uncovered my hidden barriers and blocks that were keeping me in a frustrated cycle, allowing me to fully embrace who I am and what I'm here to do.
My journey may be unique but my story as woman, who, for a long time didn’t believe that I was worthy of the things I wanted in life, didn’t believe I was clever enough or good enough, sadly isn't. I have spent longer than I would like to admit searching for perfection in everything I did, striving for those high standards that I held myself to. My belief’s around my self worth and myself in general have been very rigid, it’s taken many years for me to get where I am now and to understand where these belief’s have come from. It’s taken me many years to start being more gentle with myself and funnily enough, the gentleness started to come after I had a stroke.
I know how difficult it can be when life is thrown off kilter because of a major life or health event. For me, it was a stroke, for you, it may be something else and that's why I'm here for you. I'm here to help you rebuild, to gain confidence and clarity. In short I'm here to help you dig deep so that you can reimagine your life into something that your truly deserve so you feel more balanced and purposeful.

I loved my coaching with Anna. I felt immediately at ease, as we'd built a connection during the pre-session getting to know you call.
I felt like Anna understood me and made practical suggestions for how I could better manage myself; and understand myself moving forward.
Working with Anna, as a fellow stroke survivor, especially someone who is young and working, was huge for me. This added to Anna's insight and understanding of my life and the impact the stroke has had.

I'd come across Anna on social media and was drawn to her story and how returning to her yoga practice had helped her own recovery from a stroke. Her story and posts very much resonated with my post-stroke experiences, especially the wariness I have of my body. I was very keen to understand the impact on the nervous system more fully and find techniques to calm it, especially as my mobility is much reduced since my stroke, and my beloved long mindful walks are not as easy to do. Meeting Anna online for the first time, I felt as though I'd known her for a while, she has a lovely calming presence and empathy with her participants. Anna has clearly spent a great deal of time researching into the subject and the workbook is comprehensive, but not overwhelming. I have come away with new ideas and a better understanding how to regulate difficult feelings when they arise. Anna filled the workshop with theory and practical things to try during and after the session - all in a very safe and supportive environment. She uses three questions to help work through the feelings, and advocates the importance of self compassion, something that is so important, but we can easily neglect in the times when our internal chatter is being counter-productive! There is hope after a stroke and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this workshop as a way of understanding how and why your body reacts in the way that it does, and what to do to help calm it.
